The program was organized in the context of Nepal's ongoing celebration of the Wellness Tourism Year and aimed to raise public awareness about the immense potential of wellness tourism as a key driver of tourism growth in the region.

The program was formally inaugurated by the Hon. Khadga Raj Paudel, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, in the presence of Mr. Suresh Puri, President of Spa Association Nepal; Mr. Bhuwan Phaiju, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee; Mr. Chandra Prakash Shrestha, President of the Siddhartha Hotel Association (SHA) and a Central Executive Committee Member of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN); Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi ,Former CEO of Nepal Tourism Board; Mr. Narad Gautam, Secretary for Industry, Tourism and Transport of Lumbini Province; Mr. Laxman Neupane, Founder and Chairman of Siddhartha Hospitality Group; and Ms. Nisha Shrestha, Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee.

In his address, Minister Paudel underscored that the central purpose of human life is the pursuit of happiness, and that travel and wellness are intrinsically linked to that pursuit. He emphasized that Nepal's tourism is mainly occupied by wellness tourism, and that the country's tourism sector cannot move forward without embracing it.

On the much-discussed issue of the Gautam Buddha International Airport, Minister Paudel assured attendees that the government is actively working to bring the airport into full regular operation at the earliest. He stated that Nepal has set an ambitious target of attracting one crore tourists and that to achieve this goal, the government must operationalize both the Bhairahawa and Pokhara airports without further delay. He stressed that connecting these cities with international destinations and airports across the world is not optional but essential if Nepal is serious about reaching its tourism targets. He clarified that the delay was not due to political or diplomatic issues but rather policy-level shortcomings, which are now being addressed, and called for stronger tourism promotional efforts to make this vision come true.

Mr. Suresh Puri, President of Spa Association Nepal, delivered a comprehensive address on the potential of wellness tourism in Nepal, stressing that prevention is more effective than cure and advocating for exercise, yoga, and meditation as essential tools for stress management in today's modern world. He also raised a critical concern that spa and wellness training institutes in Nepal are currently not receiving proper affiliation from the government. He emphasized that if the government provides proper affiliation to these training institutes, the training would follow recognized protocols and the manpower produced would receive government-verified certification, making them significantly more acceptable and competitive in the hospitality sector across the globe.
