NIC Asia Bank enables NEPALPAY Card Acquiring

Kathmandu – NIC Asia Bank Limited has enabled NEPALPAY Card acquiring services from Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL), furthering its digital banking capabilities. It will now be able to acquire NEPALPAY card for its customers and accept international cards under Discover network including RUPAY Card from its ATMs and POS. As part of the initiatives of NIC Asia Bank to provide digital payment services under multiple card schemes including NEPALPAY, this enablement is expected in line with its digital strategy and support national card.

NEPALPAY Card is the national card scheme under National Payment Switch (NPS) that works within Nepal and accepted globally through its international partner Discover® Network. The NEPALPAY card, launched under the NPS, allows the participating banks & financial institutions, payment service providers (PSPs), and payment system operators (PSOs) to issue NEPALPAY Cards that are accepted at POS and ATM terminals across Nepal and globally. It also allows the international Discover Cards and Discover partnered cards to be accepted in Nepal.

NEPALPAY card has already been subscribed by over 36 BFIs, which are currently at various stages of rollout. NEPALPAY card has already been issued by 7 BFIs and acquired by 11 other BFIs, which is expected to grow in coming days.
