Kathmandu,Feb 25. Dr. Albert Francis Park, Chief Economist and Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari. The meeting, held at the central bank's headquarters in Kathmandu, focused on Nepal’s economic prospects and the challenges facing the country’s financial landscape.

During the discussion, Dr. Park and Governor Adhikari exchanged views on Nepal’s macroeconomic outlook, ongoing economic reforms, and the role of ADB in supporting Nepal’s development agenda. They also deliberated on key issues such as inflation, monetary policy, fiscal discipline, and investment climate.  

Governor Adhikari highlighted Nepal Rastra Bank’s recent policy measures aimed at stabilizing the economy, promoting sustainable growth, and strengthening financial resilience. He acknowledged the contributions of ADB in supporting Nepal’s development efforts, particularly in infrastructure financing, financial sector reforms, and technical assistance programs.  

Dr. Park reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to assisting Nepal in overcoming economic challenges, enhancing financial stability, and accelerating economic recovery. He emphasized the importance of maintaining macroeconomic stability, improving investment policies, and fostering private sector participation to drive long-term growth.  

The meeting also touched upon Nepal’s transition to a digital economy, climate finance, and opportunities for strengthening Nepal-ADB cooperation in priority sectors.  

The courtesy call reflects the continued partnership between Nepal and ADB in fostering economic progress and financial stability in the country.
