Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Kamdi Community and WWF Nepal collaborate on ‘The Goal is Green’ initiative

Kathmandu. Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action, Laxmi Sunrise has engaged WWF Nepal as its technical conservation partner for the implementation of its flagship environmental campaign, ‘The Goal is Green.’ Under the initiative, the Bank has committed to plant one tree for every goal scored across all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026, transforming the excitement of the world's biggest football tournament into meaningful environmental action in Nepal.

‘The Goal is Green’ reflects Laxmi Sunrise's commitment to creating lasting environmental value by connecting global sporting moments with local climate action. Although modest in scale, the initiative demonstrates how private sector investment can contribute to larger landscape restoration efforts, creating lasting ecological benefits when guided by science and implemented in partnership with local communities.

As part of the collaboration, WWF Nepal will provide technical expertise to support the successful implementation of the initiative. Leveraging its conservation knowledge and long-standing field experience, WWF Nepal has facilitated a partnership between Laxmi Sunrise and the Kamdi Community Forest Coordination Committee (CFCC), its trusted local conservation partner. The CFCC will undertake the plantation of native, ecologically appropriate tree species in suitable locations and oversee their long-term care and maintenance, while WWF Nepal will provide technical guidance on species selection, site suitability and ecological restoration practices to help ensure lasting environmental impact.

By combining Laxmi Sunrise's commitment to sustainability, WWF Nepal's technical expertise and the CFCC's community-based conservation experience, ‘The Goal is Green’ seeks to support existing on the ground efforts that contribute to healthier ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity and promote long-term community stewardship of Nepal's forests.

As the final whistle marks the close of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Laxmi Sunrise Bank is fulfilling its commitment to plant 333 native trees for a total of 333 goals scored throughout the tournament, transforming every goal into a lasting contribution to Nepal's environmental future.
